Citizenship Programme initiative- Students teach fitness and sports at nearby MCD primary school

On Friday, 24 July 2026, Avika Kapoor (IX-A), Jaza Rizwi (IX-A), Sanchit Chauhan (VIII-D), Gurshaan Singh Bindra (VIII-D), and Peehu (IX-C) visited MCD School, Sadiq Nagar. This was undertaken as a part of The Indian School Citizenship Programme, an initiative aimed at promoting sports and physical fitness among primary school students while fostering social responsibility and community engagement.

The programme commenced with a warm-up session followed by a series of running exercises to prepare the students physically and create an energetic atmosphere. The activities not only enhanced fitness but also encouraged enthusiasm and active participation among the young learners.

Following the fitness session, the students organised and participated in a variety of sports and recreational games, including football, dodgeball, and volleyball. The games were carefully planned to help the primary students develop fundamental movement skills, co-ordination, teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship. The activities also encouraged healthy competition while ensuring that every child actively participated and enjoyed the experience.

A particularly memorable aspect of the visit was the opportunity to interact closely with the students of the MCD School. Through these interactions, the participants built meaningful connections, shared experiences, and inspired the younger children to develop an interest in sports and physical activity. The experience also reinforced the values of kindness, empathy, mutual respect, co-operation, and responsible citizenship among the students of The Indian School.

Overall, the visit was an enjoyable, meaningful, and rewarding experience. The Citizenship Programme provided an enriching platform for the participants to contribute positively to the community while developing their own leadership, communication, and organisational skills. It successfully reflected The Indian School's commitment to nurturing socially responsible citizens and promoting the holistic development of children through sports, physical education, and community outreach.
