13th Dr. Amidas Goradia Debate in Hindi ( 2017) for classes 4 and 5.

The 13th Dr. Amidas Goradia Inter-School Debate in Hindi was held at our School on Thursday, 24th August 2017. The event attracted a wide participation of 22 prominent schools from across the city. The purpose of the debate is the promotion of Hindi as a national language , among primary school children in Delhi.

The chief guest on the occasion was Mr. Arvind Gaur, renowned theatre personality. He is known for his work with innovative, socially and politically relevant drama. Mr. Gaur is the head of Asmita ,Delhi's "most prolific theatre group", and is also actor trainer, social activist, street theatre expert and story teller.

The debate was adjudged by an eminent panel comprising of Messrs Hiranya Himkar writer and theatre director ) and Mukesh Kumar Sinha (writer and poet) and Ms. Anita Yadav (faculty at Gargi College). Mr Bharat Tewari ( critic, poet and blogger) was our guest of honour.

After lighting the ceremonial lamp, and the choir singing the Ganesh Vandana, Principal Ms. Tania Joshi welcomed the young participants of classes 4 and 5 who seemed charged up and ready to field their flourish on the topics of their choice!

The topics of the debate were, 1) Mitrata main bhasha ka bandhan nahi hota 2) Zaroorat se zaida pyaar kare, bachchon ka banta dhaar. 3) Reality show bachon ka bachpan cheen rahe hain. 4) "Mari choriyan choron se kam hain ke?" 5) "Bholi surat dil ke khote, naam baday darshan chhote."

The judges were very impressed by the levels of articulation exhibited by the children and the fluency with which they spoke. The judges candidly confessed that for them, all the participants were winners! Mr. Arvind Gaur did point out that it is important to keep the goal in focus as we speak on a theme.

This year the proficiency of several of the speakers made the job of the judges difficult and there was a tie for almost all categories of the awards.

The Rolling Trophy was handed to Amity International School, Saket (Pradyumn Bhirkhani & Raghav Sharma ) and Lotus Valley School ( Aryaman Narula and Anugraha Prada B Goyal).

The Runners up Trophy was shared by DPS East of Kailash ( Patasarthi Goyal and Ameya Aneja) and The Indian School ( Vedant Srivastav and Niyati Khurana).

The award for Best Speaker was won by Ameya Aneja, DPS,East of Kailash. The award for Second Best Speaker was shared by Pradyumn Bhirkhani of Amity International School and Vedant Srivastav of The Indian School. The award for Third Best Speaker was shared by Aryaman Narula, Lotus Valley and Ojas Mehalawat, Raghubir Singh Junior Modern School.

Ms. Joshi announced the awards and took the opportunity to inform the audience of the initiative taken at The Indian School to popularise both Hindi and Sanskrit. Students opting for these at the senior secondary level would be granted concessions of fee, she said.
