Access 2015

Computers and Information Technology have, without a doubt, changed the world entirely. To ensure that the youth remain on the cutting edge of technological advancements, Bits 'N' Bytes, the computer club of Modern School, Barakhambha Road organized its 27th Annual Computing Symposium - Access 2015 on 22nd and 23rd December, 2015.

The event saw the participation of almost 90 schools from across Delhi and the NCR, like DPS RK Puram, DPS VasantKunj, DPS Rohini, DPS NOIDA, St. Marks School MeeraBagh, Indraprastha World School, Modern School VasantVihar, Modern School Kundli, Ramjas School RK Puram, Tagore International School Vasant Vihar, Springdales Dhaulakaun, Bluebells International School and DPS Sushant Lok.

The symposium started with an inauguration ceremony. Following this, participants were escorted to their appointed venues where the different events were going to be held. The events were:

Open Programming: Mayank of class XI participated in this event. The software used was Turbo C++ 11/4.5, Eclipse (Java) and Python 2.7. The event was held on the first day of Access 2015. The preliminary round was a written round.The top 6- 8 teams were short listed for the final round. The participants were given 120 minutes to solve 5 problems. The problems contained matter relating to logic, reasoning and math.

Gaming: Pulkit Goyal of class XI participated in this category. The game type was Console. He qualified for the semi-final round which was held on the second day of the competition.

Story Writing: Prakhar Gupta of class XI participated in this event. For the story- writing event no computers or internet access was provided. It was a pen and paper round. Students were given the opening and closing sentences only. They had to write the body of the story. The event was held on the first day of Access 2015.

Crossword: Arjun Pasricha and Tanmay Kohli of class IX participated in this event. The event was held on the first day of Access 2015. There was a written preliminary round. Based on the prelims, 6 teams were selected for the final on stage. The crossword was based on cryptic clues relating to companies, personalities, terms and devices in the tech world.

Sub Junior Quiz: Chitrak Kala and Kartik of class VIII participated in this event. The preliminary round was a written one. The top six teams were short listed for the final round. It was an on stage round and covered all aspects of computing and IT. The event was held on the first day of Access 2015.

Fancy Dress: Sejal Gupta of class IV participated in this event .The participants had to dress in anything relating to the field of computers and IT. They were given a maximum of 2 minutes to speak on their character. Sejal Gupta dressed up as Google Glass and spoke about it. The event was held on the second day of Access 2015.

Logo Programming: Uday Soni, Anthariksh Nair and Yahvi Rishi of class IV participated in the MSWLogo event. The event was held on the second day of Access 2015. It had a preliminary round where participants had to solve logical questions and write the code in LOGO on a sheet of a paper. Eight teams qualified for the final round based on the results of the prelims. The time allotted for this event was 60 minutes.

Junior Quiz: Samarth Saxena and Yash of class IX participated in this event. The quiz covered all aspects of computing and IT. It had a written preliminary round. Six teams were short listed for the final round based on the results of the prelims.The event was held on the second day of Access 2015.

Open Quiz: Sarthak Jolly and Prakhar Gupta of class XI and Manav and Hammad of class X participated in this event. The preliminary round was a written round and the top six teams were short listed for the final round on stage. The quiz covered all aspects of computing and IT. The event was held on the second day of Access 2015.

The participants took keen interest in all the events and participated enthusiastically.
