Art competition based on Hungarian folklore
The Hungarian Information and Cultural Centre organized its annual on-the-spot Childrens Painting Competition at the Embassy of Hungary on 12 February 2019. The event commenced on the lush lawn of the embassy on a bright and cheerful Tuesday morning at 9.30 a.m. The competition was open to children of 5 to 16 years. The theme emanated from Hungarian folktales- a common heritage of mankind that reflect the moral values of human beings, their struggles, wisdom and the eternal victory of good over evil.
The event began with a story telling session in Hindi of three Hungarian folktales- 'The Mayor's Clever Daughter', 'Lizard Princess' and 'The Princess Shoes'. Thereafter, the enamoured audience was asked to create imaginative artwork based on any one of the aforementioned stories or an interesting character or other details of the tale that interested or inspired them the most.
