Assembly for Ganesh Chaturthi by Class 4C.
The month of September marks the beginning of festivals and celebrations in India. It brings with it joy, enthusiasm and sets in a festive mood.
To mark the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, the children of class IV-C presented a special assembly. The morning began with our Head teacher, Mrs. Neena Maini and a few other teachers lighting the ceremonial lamp. It is believed that lighting a lamp before Lord Ganesha, lifts the darkness of hardship away.
The stage was set with the children dressed as Lord Ganesha and His parents, Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva. The children explained in confidence about the festival and how it was revived by Lokmanya Tilak. They also told us about how it is celebrated in the different parts of India, how Lord Ganesha acquired his unique form has and how Lord Ganesha is referred considered a symbol of the ideal. The Ganesh aarti, Ganesh shlokas and the Ganpati Vandana was energetically sung by the children. The atmosphere was charged with festivity and joyousness as the assembly prepared to conclude with the Ganpati visarjan.

The children carrying handcrafted eco-friendly idols of Lord Ganesha, loudly chanted Ganapati bappa maurya, pudchya varshi laukarya even as the dholak offered a vigorous beat. The idols were then immersed in a small pool, even as the children crowded around in a sentimental adieu.
We were delighted to have the support of Sanatan Srivastava and Keshav Narain of class VIII-D who played the percussions and tabla at our assembly.
