The first edition of Birla MUN was held from 7th to 9th November,2014 and 8 students of our School took part. There were four committees, namely the United Nations' General Assembly, United Nations' Human Resource Commission, United Nations' Security Council and the Order of the Phoenix.
Shubham Airi, Sriraag Av, Saransh Grover and Ritwik Arora debated on the agenda Recognising Crimes against Women and providing them Legal and Medical Assistance in the UNGA as delegates of India, USA, Uruguay and Norway respectively. Meanwhile, Anshul Roy and Abdullah Malik represented Algeria and Chile in the UNHRC where the topic was the controversial one of euthanasia. Tabish Hussain took part in the UNSC as delegate of Chad.
[gallery link="file" columns="2"]This committee was a continuous crisis committee and revolved around the ISIS. On the other hand, Pranati Haldia impersonated Kingsley Shacklebolt in the unconventional Harry Potter world-based committee Order of the Phoenix which dealt with restructuring the wizarding world after the second wizarding war!
All the delegates added value to the debate and helped shape their respective committees. Ritwik Arora won Verbal Mention in the UNGA, and did our School proud.
