CBSE capacity building workshop

The CBSE appointed Dr. Anu Singh, Vice Principal, as resource person to conduct a one day capacity building programme on Remodelled assessment structure for class X.

Dr. Singh conducted the workshop with Dr. Girish Choudhary (former Professor at Lady Erwin College), at Mamta Modern School, Vikaspuri on 11th November 2017. Teachers of about 65 schools in West Delhi participated in the workshop.

On 25th November, 2017, Dr. Singh conducted a similar session for teachers at DPS- NTPC Vidyutnagar, Dadri for a gathering of 84 teachers. The workshop aimed at acquainting teachers with the new assessment pattern for classes IX and X.

The session commenced with an ice breaker. Each group was asked to share a memorable experience in the classroom.

CBSE circulars on the new assessment pattern were explained in detail to the teachers. The handouts were circulated amongst the participants for clarity on ways to conduct periodic tests, assessing submissions of notebooks, and conducting subject enrichment activities, all of which constitute the internal assessment aspect with a weightage of 20 marks.

The teachers prepared a blueprint of a periodic test with its marking scheme. Special emphasis was laid on including higher order thinking skills questions. The evaluation of co-scholastic areas was also discussed and the teachers were guided on the ways to grade art education, health education and work education. From the current year onwards, students will be graded for discipline too and it will be the responsibility of the class teacher to award this grade. The teachers deliberated upon the various parameters for assessment with Dr. Anu Singh.

It was an interactive workshop and the teachers were appreciative of the resource person for mentoring them.
