Children's Day 2015

The good old days of childhood!! What all would grown-ups do to get back those glorious days! While we know we cant, we are happy still as we, being teachers, get to relive it each day amongst our students.

The school auditorium was witness to a mesmerising display of dance and music, a display with a little twist that was both surprising and welcome. The event was Childrens Day which we celebrated on 9th November as the 14th was a holiday. Childrens Day is celebrated in India on 14th November each year to commemorate the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, lovingly called Chacha Nehru by children.

The auditorium reverberated with much cheering and applause as teachers took to the stage, to make this special day a memorable one for the students. A role reversal as it were, the teachers performed on stage, to bring delight on the faces of their students.

The assembly commenced with the teachers choir singing a prayer. The students cheered loudly as our music teacher, Mr. Sanjeev Chaudhry sang melodious numbers, as Mr. Adheer Das accompanied him on the table.

Next, was a peppy dance number which was probably more than what the students could have asked for! Many among the audience were seen singing along the songs their teachers were dancing to. Our music teachers, Mr. Siddharth Dalbehera and Mr. Gopinath Sawain created magic on the flute and the violin, as they presented a medley of heart-warming pieces. It was touching to see the eyes of some of our class XII students well up with tears as they realised it was their last Childrens Day celebration at School.

A parody of Hindi songs was the highlight of the show. The lyrics of the songs were replaced by words that echoed the feelings of the students, much to everyones amusement.

Principal Ms. Joshi addressed the assembly and appreciated the teachers for their efforts. They were also accorded a standing ovation by the students, which crowned their joy!

We felt we had 'cleared' with flying colours and we realised that in each of us there is still a child. We eagerly await next year's celebration. Until then, we cannot help pining..." Hum bhi agar bachchehote
