Class 5 visits the Delhi Book Fair

Students of class V visited the Delhi Book/Stationery Fair organised by the India Trade Promotion Organisation in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Publishers, on 1 August 2023 at Pragati Maidan.

The visit, in the form of an educational field trip, aimed at instilling an appreciation for literature and stimulating student interest in reading. The group, consisting of seventy-four students, was accompanied by four primary wing teachers to guide and supervise the students on the trip.

The enthusiastic group commenced their journey at around 10 a.m. Upon arrival at the fair, the students excitement was palpable. The vast array of colourful book stalls, each exhibiting an incredible variety of books, left the students awestruck. The books ranged from science fiction and fantasy to biographies and history books. This years theme for the book fair Books in Nation Building is a part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

The students were encouraged to interact with the stall owners, ask questions, and learn more about the books available. This not only allowed the students to practice their communication skills but also provided a sense of independence in choosing books that sparked their interest. The students as well as the teachers, bought books that had kindled interest.

The stationery stalls provided an added attraction for the students who were drawn to the wide variety of fancy items including notebooks, customised or designer pens, folders/files made of handmade paper etc. The students eagerly bought a lot of stationery items.

Overall, the trip to the Delhi Book Fair was an enriching experience for the class V students. It was not just a day out of School but a day filled with learning, exploration, and an expanded love for books.

It is hoped that this trip will have kindled the interest of the young visitors for the world of books and also inspired them to make reading a lifelong habit.
