Class 8 visits the Delhi Book Fair

"Books give a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." Plato

The students of class VIII visited the book fair at Pragati Maidan on 31 July 2023. Forty-eight students were accompanied by language teachers Ms Naina Sethi and Ms Vidusha Sharma. It was an excellent opportunity to explore the world of books.

The fair was held in Hall 11 of Pragati Maidan and was packed with book stalls from across India. There were various stalls for publishers, from small independent publishers to large multinational corporations. There were also stalls for government agencies and non-profit organisations.

This year, the Delhi Book Fair 2023 theme was 'Books in Nation Building' and formed an integral part of the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' celebrations. The event aimed to highlight the glorious history of the Indian people, their culture and their achievements. The India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) organised the event in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Publishers (FIP). It coincided with the 'Golden Jubilee' celebrations of the FIP.

The books at the fair included various genres, including fiction, non-fiction, children's books and textbooks. There were also books in multiple languages, including English, Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi.

The 23rd Stationery Fair and the 7th Office Automation & Corporate Gift Fair were among the added attractions.

The students enjoyed the lively and vibrant atmosphere at the fair, and there was a sense of excitement in the air. Each student was able to find one or another exciting book/stationery item to take back home. It was a wonderful experience.
