Classes IV and V Inter-House Science Quiz

Classes IV and V participated in an interesting and fun-filled informative quiz on Friday 16 January, 2015. The students of the respective houses had unanimously elected their representatives on an earlier date. These contestants were tested on their reasoning skills and knowledge of the following topics: - Environment - Food and Green plants - Mars mission - Inventions and Discoveries The quiz consisted of four rounds. In the first round the contestants had to guess the correct word. In the second round they had to identify the names of famous personalities with the help of the hints offered to them. The third round was a regular question-answer round. In the fourth round, the contestants had to name the animal in a picture that was displayed on the monitor . Each team got a maximum of 30 seconds in which to answer the question, failing which the question was passed to the next team for bonus points. In case none of the teams was able to answer correctly, the question was offered to the audience. It was heart-warming to see the children brimming with enthusiasm and exuberance as they vied with the others to answer questions that required explanation and reasoning. The cheers from the audience group added to the excitement of the atmosphere.

The quiz ended with the declaration of the results. Surya House stood first closely followed by Chandra House, in the second position. Indra House and Varun House stood third and fourth respectively. Two important activities were clubbed with the science quiz: 1. The observance of Road Safety Week The students of classes V-B and IV-D enlightened the assembly on the various aspects of road safety. They highlighted the rules that should be followed on the road and later also made posters to reinforce the same.

2. Students were made aware that they need to be vigilant at all times in the wake of the possible terror strikes in our city, ahead of US President Barack Obamas visit. A demonstration was given by few students on how to keep ourselves safe in the event of any untoward occurrence. Filed by Ms. Parvinder Kaur.
