On 24th March 2017, three students of class XII participated in Odyssey17, a cultural fest held at the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIIT-D). The students, namely Saumyaa Saxena, Vatsala Banerjee and Aryan Kakkar, accompanied by Ms. Nitu Pandey,
took part in one of the events held at the fest.
The event was a quiz based on the pop-culture and literature phenomenon Game Of Thrones, the literary work penned by George R.R. Martin, ( now also adapted into a television series). The novels are set in the medieval period in the fantasy land of Westeros. They are stories of the nobility in their pursuit of power steeped in intrigue, complex characters and scintillating adventure!
The quiz had the participation of several college as well as school teams. The preliminary stage consisted of five written rounds, following which the four top-scoring teams were chosen for the final round. The questions ranged from character analysis to historical references. They tested not only the content-based knowledge but also the deductive capabilities of the students. Our School team made it upto the final round and was awarded posters of the series for their enthusiastic and outstanding participation in the preliminary round.
Overall, the quiz was a valuable experience as the students tested their mettle against both school and college students. It gave the students an early view into the world of collegiate competitions.
