District Level English Extempore Competition
Extempore is the art of public speaking without preparation or forethought. It puts to test one's ability to think on the spot and ones spontaneity.
On 16 October 2018, GGSSS, Chhatarpur. organised a District level English Extempore Competition. The competition was for the students who had qualified at the first level namely the Zonal level. It consisted of two categories, senior and junior.
Ananya Sunderesan, class 8 and Sehaj Kaur Bedi, class 12, were awarded the second and first positions respectively at the first level i.e. the Zonal English Extempore Competition in July, following which they qualified for the second level i.e. the District level.

The competition witnessed a participation of 20 students from all over Delhi and NCR, in both categories. The students were directed to pick up a chit from a bunch of chits which held the topics. They were given a minute to gather their thoughts. The speaking time was 4-5 minutes per speaker.
The topics allotted to our students were, "Social responsibilities of school children" (senior category) and "Health is Wealth" (junior category). The participants delivered their speeches impressively- the thoughts rolled in clarity and good sequence. The poise also was preserved through the speeches. In fact the children were confident and very spontaneous.
The result is awaited and we are confident that our students will secure a position in this competition too.
