Educational excursion to the School eco park, class 7.

Over two days, 8th and 15th February 2017, groups of students of class VII accompanied by their teachers visited the School eco-park.

The park is a well designed and scenic one with a view of the rolling Aravalli range. It was a change for city dwellers like us to spend a joyful and peaceful morning in a rural setting, far from 'the madding crowds'!

The bountiful vegetable beds looked welcoming. The children got the opportunity to observe how winter vegetable are sown and picked harvested. They gazed in awe at the rich spectacle of rows of carrots, radish, spinach, brinjal and coriander. Many were prompt and to pull up their cuffs and soil their hands to pluck out the choicest vegetables for themselves!

The group walked through the science park where life sized models exhibit the basic principles of science principles in a hands-on way. There were the musical tubes, parabolic dishes, a DNA model, loop the loop model, angular momentum model, third order lever, reflecting mirrors, the double-ended cone and a crystal structure which they spent time reflecting on.

We were also shown a vermi-composting pit where hundreds of earthworms work through piles of leaves and farm waste generated everyday, to produce organic manure for the vegetable beds. The little farm animals like rabbits, hens, ducks and turtles which are taken care of by the gardeners on the farm were also a delight to watch and play with.

In all, we spent a wonderful time under the winter sun along amidst lush surroundings and under a clear blue sky. Anushka Saxena, 7B.
