Environment Week activity- Skype interface with a school in Vietnam for class 2
As we observed Environment Week at The Indian School a Skype session was conducted on 12 July 2019 in the computer lab where students of class II along with their teacher, Ms Rhytham Massey interacted with students of the Thng H No 2 Primary School in Vietnam, on ways and means to save the environment.
Our young students waved placards of slogans like Save electricity, water, plant more trees and the 3Rs- Reuse Reduce Recycle. They also showed their Vietnamese counterparts the no-sew cloth bag which they had crafted, as an resource for the Say No to Plastic initiative.
Ms Lan Nguyn, the Vietnamese teacher, was very warm and cordial and encouraged her students to ask their new friends questions like, How would you save electricity? or How would you save water?

The Vietnamese students talked about how they only use public transport to in their city and reuse plastic bottles. A brief discussion then took place on the current state of the weather in the two places. The curiosity was palpable on both sides!
The half-an-hour session was enjoyed by all the students. Ms Nguyn was extremely impressed by our students level of confidence and command over English.
It was thus a fun opportunity to seek out a new culture with a common cause, namely Save the planet.
