Excursion to an art museum- class 2

Art is as natural as sunshine and as vital as nourishment.

The students of class II visited the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art on 2 November 2018.

The excursion began in abundant enthusiasm. The children were expectedly very curious and animated. The museums curator welcomed the group of our young visitors and gave a brief and basic introduction about the museum. She told them about the sketches, paintings and works of modern and contemporary art that were on display in the different parts of the museum. She explained to them to look for certain basic elements in art generally, to be able to appreciate better.

A simple power point presentation and the exhibits themselves now clearly conveyed to the children how art is a reflection of life itself. Colour, touch, sound, movement, apparitions, light and shadow draw a person into an experience of art, as it were.

The students got an opportunity to see the works of renowned artists like Subodh Gupta and Shahziya Sikander. The curator talked about Neha Choksis The Ice Boat which was related to the role that gadgets play in an individuals life in the city and how our acts are contributing to global warming, pollution etc. An installation created out of household stainless steel utensils caught the attention of all those who entered the gallery. The students were filled with awe as they walled around.

We hope that some of our young enthusiasts feel inspired to engage with art in the future!
