Excursion to School eco park

Learning should be joy and full of excitement. Its life greatest adventure; it is an illustrated excursion..

To teach these powerful lessons, School organised a field trip to School's eco park for 150 students of classes 3, 4 and 5 accompanied by 16 teachers on 15th March2018.

We set off on our adventure on 3 comfortable buses. The journey was joyful and the children were excited to head out of the bustle of the city. The landscape was soon visible as the city skyline was left behind. Soon the buildings diminished to gradually yield to farm dwellings- kutcha mud and husk huts. People too appeared less rushed, infact the pace was distinctly different. They were dressed in village attire too. We passed small bazars at crossroads, village schools and rows of small shops and kiosks selling daily items of daily needs. The children observed the differences and continuously plodded the teachers to explain.

As we reached our destination, the soft breeze, the fresh scent of foliage and the bracing weather was a great energiser! We loved the instant magical connect we had already made with the place!

Multiple activities were lined up for the children to make for a fun filled learning eco experience. The enthusiastic children dressed in their track suits were ready and raring to go! They were quickly divided in groups of 10, each accompanied by a teacher.

The children attempted adventure activities like artificial river crossing, the commando net, the flying fox etc. The children were seen learning balancing, climbing, etc and attempting to being self reliant and confident in an outdoor environment. The objective of the adventure camp was to teach the children learn to push their limits and to conquer their fears.

In the flying fox, the children were attached to the rope and using a harness, they were required to slide to the ground. Similarly the artificial river crossing trained them to shed their fear. The Burma Bridge and commando net taught them to balance their body weights, manouvre a tunnel like a soldier gave them a pleasure and feeling of victory.

The farms has many endearing farm animals and birds like the rooster, geese and rabbits and the children thoroughly enjoyed petting some of these. They walked around and learnt names of trees newly planted.

After an exhaustive stint with sports activities., the refreshment provided, lent energy to go back and attempt a few more activities. T Later they were guided through the park and were prompted to try a hand at picking the ready produce. Of course they could not resist and undertook their attempt right away under the guidance of the park caretaker who stood at hand. The best part was that children could take home the fresh self-picked vegetables!

As they say, good times come to end. We all picked the fresh vegetables and sat in the bus to leave for School. The children and the teachers enjoyed the day. The learning happened in fun and laughter.
