Excursion to the Air Force Museum, class 8

When you go home tell them of us and say for your tomorrow we gave our today The Kohima epitaph is an apt tribute to the spirit and sacrifice of the Indian soldiers who lie awake so that we can sleep peacefully. The resilient soldiers of the Indian Air Force are known for their valour and ever-readiness to sacrifice their lives for the welfare and security of our great nation. We, the students of class VIII, visited the Air Force Museum on August 27, 2015 to salute their unparalleled roles in our lives and to commemorate the golden jubilee of the Indo-Pak war of 1965. The palpable excitement and fervour was apparent on the faces of the students as we departed from School. On entering the vast complex we were overwhelmed to see several big aircraft, used the during different wars. India has fought three full scale wars to date, the Chinese aggression in 1962 and Indo-Pak wars in 1965 and 1971.

Viewing the numerous aircrafts around aroused in us a great sense of awe and joy. We learned that even bullets hadnt been able to clip the wings of our valiant fliers as they engaged in daring raids and sorties to protect Mother India! As we proceeded further, we were struck by the display of guns and ammunition used during warfare. The uniforms and medals in the gallery were those of the earlier times. The portraits of air marshals who led their men from the front to victory, paid a rich tribute to a glorious past of courage of these valiant leaders. Further on we saw the models of indigenous spacecrafts built by our scientists and aeronautical engineers.

The excursion proved to be an immensely informative and enriching experience. We left reluctantly, our hearts filled with fond memories and patriotism. We may not get the opportunity to die for our nation, but let us strive to live for it and make this diverse country a better place for the entire Indian nation!
