Excursion to the Delhi Book Fair

On 31 August, 2017, students of The Indian School were given an exciting opportunity on 31st August to visit the Delhi Book Fair at Pragati Maidan. More than 50 students of class IX were taken to this mega book fair by the teachers of The Indian School and its sister school, The Foundation School.

When the students entered the halls of the great Fair, they overwhelmed by the quantity and diversity of the books present around them. Sold by publishers from within, and outside Delhi; there were books of fiction, non-fiction, philosophy, biographies, etc.

The students spent the available hours lapping up the richly stacked shelves all around. Selecting what they best wanted to buy within their budgets was a tall task. There was just so much exciting to buy!

Besides the popular publishers there were books by NCERT, The Swami Vivekananda Trust, Bhartiya Gyanpeeth, National Book Trust, Geeta Press Gorakhpur, OM Books and several others in nearly 12 languages.

Three volumes of a certain ancient Sanskrit text were also launched at the Fair. There was also a stall where old-but-in-good-condition books were being sold at a discount.

It was a memorable experience for the students and they appealed to go yet again.
