Ganesh Chaturthi in Pre primary

As we know, Ganesh Chaturthi is a festival celebrated with much fervour across India. It is important to remember, that Lokmanya Tilak was the architect of this mass celebration. It was his effort to foster the spirit of nationalism by bringing communities together on the occasion of the Ganesh festival during the struggle for independence.

Lord Ganesha or the elephant deity is considered the God of wisdom and new beginnings. Thus, people across the world worship Him before initiating any work. It is believed that he removes obstacles and blesses the course of the believer.

The legend of Lord Ganesha was narrated with animation, to the children as a classroom activity. They thoroughly enjoyed the story about how young Ganesha acquired his trunk! The Pre-Primary children also crafted images of Ganpati which were later displayed.

On Friday 25th August a special assembly, on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, commenced with a melodious invocation, the Ganesh Vandana by the children of Pre-School Capella. They spoke by turn about the festival and its significance followed by a rhythmic group dance.

An eco-friendly Ganesha crafted and beautifully decorated for the occasion was then carried aloft in a procession through the corridors of School, accompanied by the children and their teachers. Drum beats and bells clanged vigorously to shouts of Ganpati Bappa Morya" as the young colourfully clad devotees matched step and song.

The children will later symbolically immerse a single clay idol in a pool of water as a mark of their respect for the environment.
