Health and Wellness Quiz

'Health is a state of body, wellness is state of being.'- J Standford

The above quote explains that mental health is the level of psychological well-being or an absence of mental illness. To understand the concept better, a series of quiz competitions ( written round, stage round and final championship round) was organised by Expressions India.

The first level of the competition was conducted at different centres in Delhi. Our School team comprising Damak Saxena (IX-D), Arav Dimri and Akshita Panwar (XI-D) took part in the first level of the competition held on 29 August at Tagore International School, East of Kailash. It was a proud moment for us as we qualified for the 2nd written round which was conducted on 1st October 2019 in the auditorium at Moolchand Medicity.

The event was coordinated by representatives , Ms Manju Madan, Ms Priya Sharma, Ms Twinkle and Ms. Jyoti of the host team. 38 teams participated with a lot of enthusiasm. The teams were briefed about the instructions and rules. We were given a questionnaire comprising 100 word problems which had to be attempted in 90 minutes. The problems in the questionnaire dealt with common health and wellbeing issues across the human life span, mental health concerns and growing challenges of stress and work life balance in a changing world. It also comprised contemporary issues relating to health education with regard to the non communicable disorders (NCDs) affecting the country at large, the importance and dimensions of school health, students common understanding of public health policy, the emerging role of the WHO and allied health schemes of the government.

We found the competition at this level a bit difficult but we tried to attempt all the questions. Few of the questions were very confusing for the three of us but we worked on them by recalling the concepts we had revised while preparing for the competition.

The results of the competition are awaited. The team is hopeful to qualify for the next round. I can only say that the entire experience was a great learning opportunity for each one of us!
