Honours at an inter school literature event

On 2 February 2019, students of class 8 got an opportunity to visit the Lalit Kala/Sahitya Akademi for an event- Sahityotsav: Festival of Letters. This annual festival comprises a days event wherein students of classes 3 to 12 can participate in various creative writing and drawing competitions. The event was held in two categories, one for those aged between 8 and 12 years and the other for those aged between 13 and 17 years.
Upon arrival at the venue, we were given a brief introduction about the events to commence hereafter. The events that were lined up for the day were: a story writing competition, a cartoon making competition and interactive sessions with an author, a cartoonist and a Bravery Award recipient.

The first competition was story writing and the topic given to the senior participants was- Be the change you want to see. The story needed to be written in approximately 200 words. 80
students took part and were given an hour to write. After submitting their work they relished some light refreshments and proceeded to the amphitheatre.
The programme included an author speaking about her work, a cartoon-making competition and a demonstration by Mr. Uday Shankar, cartoonist.
The winners of the competition were announced after 2 days. Sasmit Deysarkar (VIII-B), Manya Narang (VIII-A) and Deeposri (VIII-A) won the first, second and third prize respectively. Each of them received a cash prize.
Overall, the experience was an enjoyable one.
