Honours at inter school math event

10 students of our School participated in Crusade of Mathematics an inter school event organised by DPS, RK Puram, on 14 December 2019. The event included four activities: Quiz, Surprise Event, Symphonies of Mathematics and Model Making Competition. 23 schools from Delhi NCR were represented.

4 students, namely, Deeposri and Meenakshi of class IX-C and Uday Beswal and Siddharth of XI-A participated in The Symphonies of Mathematics, where they presented a self-composed song based on Set Theory ( Math topic) on the guitar. The combined effort as lyricist, composer, vocalist and guitarist were an excellent display of talent and team work.

Samarbir Singh of IX-A and Banshi Dhar of IX-C participated in The Surprise Event. The event included a pen-paper crossword which was given on the spot to the teams. Only 5 of the 23 teams qualified for the final round.

Our students were awarded the Runners Up trophy in the Model Making Competition where the team comprised of Maitreyi Purandare (IX-D) and Kirtida Aggarwal (VIII-E). Our teams practical implementation of its knowledge and helped secure the honour in the event.

The highlight of the above was the choice of topic, War of Choices (to be or not to be.). The team made use of waste material and assembled a beautiful display window with the help of geometrical shapes. They articulately presented that an item in cylindrical shape cannot be termed as the right purchase, even though it is cost effective for the manufacturer, simply because it does not lend itself to space optimisation for the consumer. The cuboid, on the other hand, was termed the right but due to its quality of enabling an optimum utilisation of space. The effort caught the eye of the judges who appreciated the way the model was demonstrated. The students explained that the model helps the consumer arrive at the best decision.

Social Science Fest

12 of our students participated in the Social Science Fest, which was divided into three categories namely, Quiz, Drama and Art.

The Art competition was very well organised and the topics were as follows:

1. Any Environmental Issue

2. Any current issue with a message upholding Gandhian values.

Our students, Anushree Dutta and Simran Khandpur of XI-D opted for the topic Any Environmental Issue and were allotted one and half hours to exhibit their work in any medium.

Harshit Sethi (X-D) and Debarpan Kole (X-E) participated in The Quiz based on current affairs.

8 students took part in the Drama event and were named Runners Up. The team comprised of Adwitiye Chandel (Class VII E), Ram Dhingra (Class VII D), Maanya Arora (Class VIII D), Divyansh Rajouriya (Class VIII D), Rudra Punj (Class VIII C), Hiya Agarwal (Class VIII A), Muzaffar Husain (Class VII A) and Pavith Sodhi (Class VIII A).
