Honours at Judo

The two most important things to do for self-defence are not to take a martial arts' class or get a gun, but to think like the opposition and know where you are most at risk.

Judo is a sport of unarmed combat derived from ju-jitsu and is intended to train the body and mind. It involves using holds and leverage to unbalance the opponent. Judo is a part of our School curriculum and aims to train our students to face threats to personal safety in daily living.

The 36th Delhi State Judo Championship was organised by the Delhi Judo Council from 6 to 11 February, 2016 at the Indira Gandhi Stadium. The championship was conducted in stages. An initial round based on weight was held at Baba Gangnath Academy, Vasant Vihar on 6th February. Bouta or individual fights were scheduled from 8th to 11th February.

The championships were presided over by qualified referees from the Delhi Judo Council. Around eleven hundred Judo Ka(s) or participants from various schools, academies and colleges across India took part in the tournament. All the Judo Ka(s) were extremely strong and talented. Our Ka(s) were technically strong too and proved themselves by the medals they received. Samarbir Singh (5E) secured a silver medal for his outstanding performance while Navya Rathee (4D), Paavni (4D), Snigdha (3C), Pavni Khanna (3B), Esha Bhagi (4C) and Sehajnoor Kaur (6C) took bronze medals.

The school is proud of their accomplishments.
