Honours at Jugalbandi18-inter school primary level music- dance competition

To celebrate the folk culture of the States along the Eastern Coast of India, a music and dance extravaganza- Jugalbandi was held by The Foundation School on 30 October 2018. The competition showcased the talent of students of the primary ( classes III & IV) of numerous schools, namely, Raghuveer Singh Junior Modern School (Humayun Road), Tagore International School (both EOK & Vasant Vihar), DPS Mathura Road, to name a few.

The students of The Indian School also participated with great enthusiasm. In the group folk singing category, our choir sang the classic, folk song Shadher Lau, on the life of a Baul in search of the Almighty. Our students succeeded in winning the hearts of both the judges and audience alike, as they claimed First position in this category!

The second category was the group folk dance competition. Each team was to present a fusion of two distinctive folk dances from any of the four states- West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Our team presented an innovative fusion of Bengal and Orissa. The songs to which the dance was set were Dhitang dhitang boley and Rasakali re ( Sambalpuri). The dance team bagged the Third prize for their scintillating performance. The victorious team included the following members: Singers: Adithya Bagler-III, Anugrah Massey-III, Aarushi Panwar-III, Ayushi Srivastava-III, Naitik Kumar-III, Nuha Khan-III, Parth Takkar-III, Saanvi Divya-III, Snigdha Naug-III, Oishee Halder-IV, Lavanya Malhotra-IV, Praket Chitkara-IV, Piyanshi Singh-IV, Shraddha Saraswati-IV and Upasana Khatua-IV. Dancers: Ananya Basu-IV, Karman Kaur Bansal-IV, Divyanshi Nayak-IV, Vansh Sharma-IV, Rhea Nayak-IV, Devyanshi Kapoor-V, Niyati Vohra-V, Danika Sharma-V, Hitisha Mehta-V, Sania Garg-V, Purnima Verma-V, Sreshtha Panigrahi-V, Suhani Agarwal-V, Sonam Lhadon-V, Ananya Arora-V.
