Honours at the 5th Llewellyn Quiz and Debate competition at Sherwood

The Indian School participated in the 5th Llewellyn Quiz and Debate at Sherwood College, Nainital. The event was held from 9 11 September, 2017 and the following students represented our School in both, the debate and the quiz.

1. Aatif Husain, Class XI 2. Avantika Chodha, Class XI 3. Priyansh Agarwal, Class XI 4. Ananya Rao, Class XI 5. Shrey Gogia, Class X

Some prominent schools like Mayo College Girls School (Ajmer),Vasant Valley (Delhi), Sainik School (Ghorakhal, Nainital) among numerous others were also a part of the event.

At the Quiz, Shrey Gogia and Ananya Rao participated in the preliminary round which was a written round consisting of 25 questions on varied subjects including Current Affairs, Science & Technology, Films, Literature etc.

Having entered the semi-finals of the Debate. Avantika Chodha, Aatif Husain and Priyansh Agarwal represented the school in the final.

The topic given for the semi final round was Minority communities are being marginalised in India. Our team had to oppose the motion. In the Semi Finals the team faced a tremendous challenge while opposing the motion against the opponents, Mayo College Girls School, Ajmer.

Some other topics of the debate were as follows:- 1. Senior privileges are mistaken for bullying. 2. All Deras and Ashrams should be banned. 3. Blackboards are now redundant. 4. The Kashmir issue can be solved. 5. True India resides in villages.

The topic for the final round was U.S. confrontation with other nations will lead to a holocaust. The host team, Sherwood College, was the winner.

Aatif Husain was adjudged Best Speaker in the Turn Coat round and Avantika Chodha was adjudged the Most Promising Speaker.
