Honours at Voices-2019 inter school student conclave

Lotus Valley International School, Noida, conducted a two-day conclave titled Voices- The Student Conclave 2019 on 7 and 8 November. The conclave was conceived to empower children to not only become skilled adults but also empathetic future citizens of the world, with a vision is to create a just, free and equitable society.

The conclave encompassed a spectrum of sessions that focused on the primary challenges posed to the youth of today. It was attended by luminaries, students, teachers and members of the host school management. 26 schools of Delhi NCR participated in the event.

Our students participated in three of the four events. Tejkirat Singh Sakhija and Divijaa Sahni of class XI-B presented a PPT on the topic Ethics as the Cornerstone of a Globalised World. Arav Dimri, Mayank Ahuja, Mitr Nanda, Gurliv Kaur and Abhiraj Sharma of XI-D, Vidhi Vadhwa of XI-B and Divija Puri of XI-C prepared a short film on the topic The Power of Faith and Spirituality. Anshika Sharma of XII-D and Mehar Saxena of XII-B submitted a paper presentation on the topic Making Sense of a Chaotic World.

Each school had to submit their entries a week prior to the date of the conclave. We were informed at the registration desk that two of our entries had been selected by the judges. The students whose entries were selected were then given a chance to present them in front of the audience.

On the first day, eminent personalities like Dr Shyama Chona, Dr Deepak Vohra, Dr Mahesh Rangarajan, Mr Thomas Sehested, Ms Shweta Rajpal Kohli, Dr Naresh Chand Gupta and Mr Fathima Raj Kilimas addressed the gathering. From sharing anecdotes, to talking about Indias achievements and upcoming challenges, the speakers addressed a variety of issues and offered suggestions. At the end of every session a short question and answer round occurred.

On the second day, the audience got a chance to hear luminaries like Mr Ankit Fadia, Ms Vasu Primlani, Dr V.S. Ravindran, Dr Shovana Narayan, Mr Mayank Yadav, Mr Dadi D. Padumjee, Swami Prabuddhananda, Mr T.C. Rangachari and Mr Abhishek Singh. Each of the speakers held the audience attention with their speeches.

Performer, Mr Jimmy Shergill was invited to preside over the last session of the day. He spoke to the students about the problems they face during their teenage years and also recited a few of his popular dialogues! He even sang a song when the audience requested persisted!

It was a happy moment for us when our teams were awarded the second prize for the PPT and the Third Prize for the short film! The students enjoyed the experience and were thrilled to have had the enriching opportunity.
