InnoNATION 2022- intra school science and innovation fest

The Scinite Society, the brainchild of the Science Department at our School, organised InnoNATION 2022-23, an intra-school science competition on 17 August 2022. InnoNATION aimed to inspire students to innovate. The competition constituted a plethora of events and gave the students an opportunity to showcase their scientific mindedness.

The opening ceremony commenced with a choir performance followed by a guitar solo by Hardik Ahlawat, X-B. Principal, Ms Tania Joshi, addressed the gathering and declared the event open. The jury consisted of our accomplished alumni, Faraz Ali, Samarth Saxena, Uday Beswal and Aryan Singh. This was followed by a detailed account of the various events planned for the day.

Theproduct design and innovation eventfor classes XI and XII aimed at tapping into the innovative mindset of students and examining their ability to generate creative ideas in a given time frame. They were expected to keep in mind the originality of the idea, the scope of real-life usage and economic feasibility. Relevant topics like global warming, pollution and waste management were included.The team comprising Jasleen Kaur, Sejal Gupta, Siddharth Khati and Soham Verma, XI-A, were awarded the First Position. They presented an ingenious product design of organic fertilisers. Amystery solving eventwas organised thr for classes XI and XII, wherein, they had to find scientific facts and draw logical conclusions on popular topics like arrow of time, the string theory, false vacuum, paradox of planktons, evolutionary origin, dark matter etc. It was a delight to see the students explain the concept and its complexities in a clear and lucid form.The First and Second Positions were bagged by Udyati Malhotra and Satwiki, XII-B, Anthariksh Nair and Parth Kumar, XI-B respectively. The Joint Third Position was won by Mansi Agrawal and Wanshika Saxena, XI-B, Sahir Siddiqui and Prakrit Pandey, XII-B. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
The event 'Explore and Perform' was organised for the students of classes IX and X. Experiments ranging from the refraction of light, water pressure differences, to DNA extraction and the principle of pressure were included. The judges interviewed each group individually and ranked them accordingly.Hardik Ahlawat, Gaauresh Paul, X- B, were declared the winners followed by Aviral Gupta and Sehhej Garg, X- B, as Runners- up and Hitisha Mehta and Mehaan Singh Baisla, IX-A, as Second Runners-up.
The next event in line was Impersonation of a Scientist. Here, the students of class VI-VIII were to dress up and talk about the life, work and contribution of several renowned scientists. The students portrayed their roles diligently. The purpose underlying the event was to inculcate a feeling of reverence and consideration for those who made incredible contributions to the world of science. TheFirst Position was bagged by Aditya Verma, class VI-A. The Second and Third Positions were bagged by Ridhima Dubey, VIII-D and Vedanshi, VII-C respectively.

The students of class V createdcomic strips on the theme waking up to climate change, thereby, showcasing their organisational and creative writing skills. The competition was judged by the science and art teachers.Naivadidya Gouda, V-B and Yashvardhan Saini, V-B, secured the First Position. Shaurya Gupta, V-B and Devika Kapoor, V-A, stood Second followed by Amitesh Kumar, V-A and Jigisha Roshan, V-E, in the Third Position.

The students of classes III and IV participated in aBest out of waste- Recreating and Reusing competition. The aim was to reinforce in the students, the importance of sustainability. The participants used various waste materials like newspaper, old cardboard boxes and icecream sticks to make the products.Aaira Dhamija, IV-B and Vidhi Gupta IV-B, secured the First Position, Avika Bansal, IV- B and Irah Verma, IV-B, secured the Second Position while Pragyan Bhargava and Tejas, IV-D, stood Third. Aarav Aggarwal, III-C and Vhuvani, III-C, stood First, Devansh Ahuja, III-B and Tanishka Fulfagar, III-B were the Runners-up and Reet Sapra, III-A and Hamreet Kaur, III-A were the Second Runners-up.

The closing ceremony was held in the auditorium, wherein, the winners for all categories were felicitated. The winners received certificates for their exemplary performances. Ms Tania Joshi, Vice Principal, Dr Anu Singh and the judges, addressed the students and commended them for their willing and enthusiastic participation. They also lauded the efforts of the core team members- Vatsal Srivastava, Harmanjot Singh Nanda, Shaleen Aditya Misra, Nakul Chadha, Omar Rizwan and Manan Arora of class XII.
