Intach partners with filmit

The Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) aims to promote and conserve Indian heritage in a variety of ways. Recently, it partnered with Filmit, a United Kingdom group to commemorate short films produced by children in India.

To carry this through, it organised a contest in which several schools across India were invited. It had children presenting films on a variety of topics such as heritage, taking care of animals and the environment, among many others. Some of these were outstanding pieces of work.

The felicitation ceremony for this contest was held on 8th February 2017. It was indeed a proud moment for us, the Indianites, as two films from The Indian School were nominated for the Filmit Award! One of these was Durga Puja which was nominated for Best Creative Film while Hidden Gems of Delhi was nominated for Best Direction. Eleven students, with their teacher Ms. Ekta Bidhuri, represented our School at the ceremony.

The ceremony commenced with a talk by the representative of each attendee school, wherein he/she shared his/her experience of making a film. Samarth Saxena spoke on behalf of The Indian School. Each school was also required to present a short musical, dance or drama on any aspect of Indian heritage that they felt strongly about. A group of students from our School presented a qawwali to the delight of many.

The ceremony then proceeded with the showcasing of all nominated movies that depicted the diverse heritage of our country. After clips of the nominated movies were seen, Chief Guest, Dr. Pant, was invited by Ms. Purnima Dutt, Principal, INTACH, to address the gathering. The Indian School received 8 certificates in various categories and a hamper of books, some of which are published by INTACH.

The ceremony concluded with refreshments for the guests. We now eagerly await, with enthusiasm, the endeavours next season wherein we are sure to get yet another opportunity to create unique visuals!
