INTACH Teacher Training Workshop
HECS, INTACH conducted a teacher training workshop for teachers, on April 18, 2023, which was attended by 60 teachers from 52 schools across Delhi and NCR. Ms Sarah Khanna represented our School.
Ms Purnima Datt, Principal Director of HECS, gave a brief introduction to INTACH and HECS before the session started and the INTACH film was shown to better describe the institution. Dr Ritu Singh, Director of INTACH's Natural Heritage Division, initiated the first session. She discussed the nutritional significance of millets and how 2023 has been designated as the International Year of Millets because of its many advantages. After explaining the background of millets, Dr Singh listed a few things that consumers should know before purchasing millet-based goods.
Dr Swapna Liddle, author and historian, led the following discussion about Delhi's history between 1805 and 1847. She went into great depth about Delhi's history at this time, the changes that took place, and the advancements made in numerous sectors. She emphasised how crucial it is to comprehend the history of Delhi in order to comprehend heritage as a whole.
Mr Tejinder S. Randhawa, Director of IKC, INTACH, conducted the third session. He discussed India's vernacular legacy while utilising images to emphasise the north and northeast's vernacular history and the threats to it.
Dr Vasant Swarankar from the Archaeological Survey of India administered the concluding session. He presented a brief overview of the history of Delhi and its seven cities before giving a talk on Purana Qila and the ongoing excavations being carried out there by Dr Swarankar and his team. He presented the findings using illustrations and thorough descriptions.
Ms Purnima Datt, Mr Abhishek Das, and Ms Trikaya Soni gave brief descriptions of the ongoing year's activities. The session came to a close with a felicitation ceremony, during which chairman, Maj. Gen. (Retd.) L.K. Gupta, handed out diplomas and books and took a group photo with the attendees.
