Exhibition on Graphic Novels, classes 5 and 7.
If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a graphic novel is worth even more. Campfire Books, an established publication company organised an exhibition at the India Habitat Centre to exhibit graphic novels, an emerging concept. We selected four dates from the month-long exhibition to accommodate around 400 students of classes V and VII.
On the first day of our visit to the exhibition, 19th July, 2016, our students met the Director of Campfire Books Mr. Girija Jhunjhunwala, who spoke to them about graphic novels and told them how they were enjoyed by people of all age groups due to the large variety of genres available. He also mentioned that many titles such as Conquering Everest, Mother Teresa, Steve Jobs and Krishna were also being recommended by the CBSE for their schools.

On 28th July, the children of class VII had a chance to meet Mr. Lalit Kumar Sharma, famous illustrator and one who is associated with Campfire for long. Mr. Sharma in an hour long session with our students explained the concept of comic strips and how it has evolved over the years.
Our students enjoyed browsing through the books at the exhibition and many also bought titles that they were drawn to.
The experience was a very good one and very useful to help motivate our students to read more.
