Live streaming of interaction with Mission- Director, Chandrayan-3

On October 18, 2023, DOE Delhi, Old Secretariat organised ‘Nayi Udaan – Vision Quest’ for the launch of its quarterly magazine ‘Nayi Udaan’. The event was screened live at The Indian School for the students of classes 8 and 9.

The session began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp followed by a rendition of the ‘Saraswati Vandana’ by teachers and a Garba dance presentation by school children.

Dr. Shubhakar, anchors at the event, enthusiastically welcomed everyone and introduced the esteemed guests at the session, namely Dr M. Srikanth, Director of Mission Chandrayaan 3 and Mr Himanshu Gupta, Director of Education, Delhi. The guests were gifted copies of the 9th edition of Nayi Udaan, a science magazine series for school among students, which was launched in September 2021.  Clips of  previous events were shared as memories to commence the session.

The event proceeded with an interactive session with Dr Srikanth and Mr Gupta. Students of various schools asked questions which were answered by the guests. Dr Srikanth shared valuable tips for students including information on morals, ethics, and discipline. He said that he had always wanted to work for the country’s welfare and had many teachers during his school and college days whom he was inspired by. He explained, that whilst becoming doctors or engineers are the popular choices of students for careers, each one of us must also work for the welfare of one's motherland. He advised students to be consistent with their efforts and be patient in reference to the journey of Chandrayaan. He further added that mistakes are to be made and learnt from  He also thanked his team for helping him to make Chandrayaan 3 a success.

Moving forward, Mr. Himanshu  Gupta dvised teachers to encourage students to study the sciences to enhance further knowledge. On being asked about alleged 'alien encounters', Mr. Srikanth shared that ISRO doesn’t usually focus on such topics. Currently the focus is Aditya L-1, whichnis estimated to be reaching its desired destination by January 2024.

In culmination, Dr Srikanth and Mr Gupta were offered tokens of respect and appreciation for their time and contribution. For the students, the session proved to be extremely informative and motivating.
