Madhubani Painting by classes 3-9.

Maithil painting, also called Madhubani painting, has existed for centuries in and around Mithila in Bihar. These paintings were the domain of only women but with a surge in popular demand for Madhubani paintings in the 1970s men began participating actively.   The themes of these paintings have been drawn from the epics, local tales and events, as well as from everyday life. Wedding ceremonies, gods and goddesses etc feature frequently. Artists use a double-outline for drawing as well as vertical and horizontal lines profusely in this style.     Students of classes 3 to 9 have assimilated the style at special in-house workshops to create outstanding examples of the form. They have used brilliant, basic colours like orange, green, red, yellow and blue, some have even added shimmer-effect with fabric colour. As reported by Ms. Shashwati, art teacher.
