Nature Art Camp at the School Eco park
A group of 50 students of classes VI to XII accompanied by their art teachers took part in an outdoors' art camp with illustrator Suvidh Mistry at the Eco park on 8thApril 2016. The camp was a part of the weeklong self-discovery activities organised in the first week of April at School.

She explained the 'Rule of Thirds' in landscape painting to the children and asked them to apply it while drawing or painting anything that caught the eye at the venue. The Rule of Thirds is a rule of thumb used by artists all over the world as they compose their paintings. According to it, the canvas through vertical and horizontal lines, is divided into nine equal parts. This creates four points where the lines intersect. Studies show that placing objects in these intersections creates a pleasing composition.
Students enjoyed exploring different colour mediums in her guidance. They used a variety of mediums such as pastels, water colours and acrylic paints. She explained the effects of these mediums when applied. She also offered valuable insights about the works created there by the children.
For the students, the experience of painting outdoors amidst nature was very inspirational. Ms. Mistry encouraged them to absorb the essence of the place and try to capture it on canvas. The children were delighted to be handed the freedom to experiment with images and colours they fancied. The final outcomes was a whole lot of vibrant artwork, laughter and a great sense of accomplishment.
