Online classroom with Indonesian peers for classes 2B and 2E

It was a delightful edutainment experience, when the students of classes II B and II E along with their teachers Ms. Rhytham Massey and Ms Jaspreet Kaur, engaged in a Skype session with their counterparts at SMP Muhammadiyah Ahmad Dahlan Aekkanopan in Indonesia on 2 August 2022. The young participants from Indonesia were accompanied by their teacher Ms. Rafika Azmi.

An animated exchange among the students on both sides of the screen resulted in an exposure to unfamiliar cultures, as each side shared details of their traditions and way of life.

Our students were more than happy to shoulder the responsibility of acquainting their Indonesian friends with Indian festivals, cuisines and heritage.

Aarsheen, Navraj, Akshay, Alesha, Digisha and Reyaansh gave an insight into our countrys incredible history and culture by speaking about our national symbols, explaining how they represent a unique identity and the sensibilities of our country.

India is a country of dynamic culture, and all Indians celebrate the diverse festivals with great enthusiasm. Pratyush, Lakshit and Parth exuded pride and confidence as they shared information about a few Indian festivals like Diwali, Christmas, Eid, Gurupurab and so on.

Details about some of Indias favourite gastronomic delights like the Litti Chokha, Pav Bhaji, Idli Sambhar, and sweets like Jalebi and Rasgulla were elucidated by Mihit, Rigyang, Hardik, Aryaveer. One could make out the interest it created amongst the curious virtual audience.

The Indonesian peers introduced themselves by turn and spoke about their likes and dislikes. Due to the time constraint, they were only able to tell us about some of their delectable dishes, such as the Nasi Goreng made with rice and soyabean sauce, Rendang prepared with beef, Satay, Ikan Bakar and much more.

The session fostered excitement and curiosity in the students as they looked forward to another such opportunity to connect with transnational cultures and enhance their understanding of people from different parts of the globe.
