Physics workshop for senior students
Gitansh Satija, Samarth Saxena, Jatin Gupta and Ranveer Bhalla of class XII accompanied by their Physics teacher, Ms. Archana Raichandani attended a workshop on 16th April at Birla Vidya Niketan, Pushp Vihar. It was conducted by Ms. Pragya Nopany, head of the department at the host school and founder of BVN-IAPT Anveshika.
The session started with an interesting question-answer session on the subject in general Physics and then it proceeded with the main theme- Electrostatics, the branch of Physics which deals with charge at rest.
The students of our school were very interactive and readily gave solutions to the problems handed to them. The workshop tested students practical knowledge and how they applied theoretical concepts to solve daily life problems.

The experiments included concepts of charging a material by induction, conduction (which was used to rotate a wooden bar without touching or blowing into it), oscillation of a spherical ball made of aluminium, the working principle of the Van der Graaf generator, lightening a bulb with a Tesla coil, detection of the maximum electric field and the making of a dipole.
It was a very informative session for the students as the experiments greatly excited their curiosity. They will now demonstrate what they saw at our School to teach their peers.
