Pre Primary Annual Sports' Day

The pre-primary section celebrated Annual Sports' Day on Saturday, December 19th, 2015 on the School play field. The event was the culmination of the School theme, States along the Western Coast of India.

Our Guest of Honour for the day was VSM Lieutenant Colonel Ranveer Singh Jamwal ( veteran of more than 24 mountaineering expeditions across five continents that includes Mt. Everest three times in 2012, 2013 and 2015). The meet was declared open as our guest released a spray of colourful balloons.

The programme commenced with a pageant with columns of children wearing attire from their adopted states presenting choreographed glimpses of traditional dances of the areas. Undoubtedly the little ones looked like dolls in motion! This was followed by an energetic aerobics' display by the students of PS Delphini and PP Leo. They looked graceful as they swung their nimble limbs harmoniously. The performance was received in great enthusiasm.

Next were the students of PS Hercule and PP Orion who glistened like their silver pompoms as they spontaneously swung in synergy with the vigorous beats of the music track! Next was the Bunny Race. The young finalists had been selected in the elimination races held earlier. The boys wearing rabbit headgear hopped towards the girls who were positioned midway down the line, wearing carrot headgear. They then sprinted together to the finishing line. The winners were Aaryan Sehgal and Jeevika (first position), Mohd. Saad and Bhavya(second position) and Avi and Priyal (third position). The beaming winners were awarded medals.

PS Kokab and PP Gemini presented a ribbon dance, involving sharp, rhythmic movements in with colourful ribbons continuously swirled by the young performers to make patterns in the air. The dancers looked vibrant in their bright attire. The children of PS Agena and PP Merak offered the energetic Lezium, traditionally performed during the Ganesha Utsav. The colourful costumes and rapidly rung Lezims ( instruments with cymbals) got our transfixed attention.

To reinforce the spirit of 'Swach Bharat Abhiyan all the pre-primary sections took part in a race in which they collected trash lying at intervals along the running track, filled it in paper bags and rushing to the finishing line. The winners of this race were- first position-Manya and Anugrah (PP Leo), second position-Ariham and Navya (PP Gemini) and third position- Snigdha and Ishan (PP Leo). They were awarded medals by Lt. Col. Jamwal.

An enchanting ballet was the next item by the students of PS Capella and PP Vega. The meticulous and flowing movements were a treat for the eyes. The girls and the boys were equally a picture of poise.

After the exhilarating performances, the guest addressed the gathering. He expressed his great delight at each of the performances and his pride at having been present at the show. He was especially appreciative of the children's aptitude. Principal Ms. Joshi extended a vote of thanks to all present, also appreciating the efforts of the entire pre-primary department.

The show concluded with a musical finale where all the 400 little members of Pre-primary assembled again for the audience, swinging to a pulsating track. They set alight bunches of gaily coloured balloons, as the hundreds of eyes in anticipation, looked skywards. It was truly a memorable moment of sweet farewell to a long effort and an anticipation of a new idea for the next!

At last, each one stood in attention for the School song, which brought a ceremonial close to the show.

Ms. Shikha Sharma.
