Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the significant festivals celebrated with much joy and enthusiasm across India. Lord Ganesha or also called the elephant deity is considered the God of wisdom and new beginnings. Thus people across the world worship him before initiating any work as they believe he removes obstacles and blesses the undertaking.

Worshippers seek his blessings on the fourth day of the Bhadrapada ( Hindu lunar religious calendar). Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated to mark the birth of lord Ganesha. At School, the story of lord Ganesha was narrated to the children as a classroom activity and they thoroughly enjoyed the story of how He acquired his trunk. It was both entertaining and rooted in folklore. He is the childrens favorite, because of his love for laddoos and his adorable face!
At School we celebrated this festival on 17th September, 2015 in a unique way. An eco-friendly Ganesha was crafted and amply decorated and then carried in a procession through the corridors by the children. The crowd of children in the procession were colourfully dressed in traditional attire and vigorously moved to a heightened tempo of the dholak and manjeeras, as they navigated their way to immerse their idol in a pool of water. Cheers of Ganapati bappa moraya agle Baras tu jaldi aa filled the passages as those around quickly joined to share in the obeisance.
The children first-hand experienced the popular festival and thereby a traditional tale got told to remember.
