Pre primary Quiz for Independence Day
Quizzing fundamental to the learning process. Besides the obvious academic benefits, this encourage teamwork and help boost confidence levels in students.
In this context, the Pre-primary department of The Indian School conducted a quiz on 20 August 2019 in the School auditorium on the occasion of the 73rd year of independence.
The selection of the teams was based on a series of challenging preliminary rounds which tested students on their knowledge of India, facts about the freedom struggle and culture with an emphasis on the east coast of India. The prelims witnessed the promising quizzers engage in a battle of wits with their peers but only the most well-informed made it to the final five teams-Merak, Leo, Gemini, Orion and Vega.

The finale was a blaze of rapid-fire questioning and quick responses as teams vied for the numero uno spot in the competition! In round one, the quizzers fielded questions on India, the national flag and symbols. The second round saw them valiantly identify visuals based on the eastern coast of India. Round Three proved to be an interesting mind sport with Guess who I am wherein the contestants had to name the freedom fighter. The last round was a musical one in which the contestants had to recognise popular patriotic songs.
There was an air of excitement and curiosity in the audience as the quiz progressed. All the contestants showed immense calm and control as they faced the quiz master. They answered with lan to notch up high scores. The teams even managed to earn bonus points by answering the pass-over questions!
Team Leo comprising of Tanishka Fulfagar and Devansh Ahuja emerged victorious in this battle of little minds.
The event concluded with the audience being shown a documentary showcasing Indias road to freedom and the men who selflessly fought to free her. Indeed, Mahatma Gandhi put it succinctly that the history of India is full of men who rose to leadership by the sheer force of self-confidence and bravery.
The quiz saluted the idea of India and the grandmasters who gave shape to it. In the process, it lit the lamp of knowledge and wisdom in the young ones.
