Pre-School Orientation 2016

An orientation for the parents of students admitted to Pre-school was held on 8th April, 2016.

An orientation is held every year at the beginning of the academic session to help familiarise parents with the ethos and philosophy of our School.

As parents began to arrive, the senior School band, assembled at the entrance, regaled everyone with endearing pieces. The mood was getting set!

Class teachers awaited our newest families with a spread of teatime bites at tables marked by section names. Parents were then guided to the Hall where the the School music teachers soulfully sang the orientation anthem, Diya Jalao. By turn parents were handed diyas to light and place on a specially mounted frame. This is customary at our School and is symbolic of a little life entrusted to learning, as it were. The light will be carried out by the children when they finally leave School as young adults, as their light of knowledge which will enable them to light their new worlds.

As 200 little flames gleamed upright, and the anthem entreated, the ambience was one of a special upliftment.

Principal, Ms. Joshi welcomed the parents. Vice chairperson, Dr. Nayana Goradia was then invited to address the audience. She described the several nuances of methods we apply at our School. She said, We prepare our children to meet global challenges and simultaneously ensure that they imbibe and retain their Indian sanskaras. We build ocean liners with Indian anchors and ethical rudders. She also briefly spoke of the concepts of self-discovery and spiral learning, so deeply ingrained in our curriculum.

After the address, the School choir presented from Africa. Africa , as we know is the School theme of the year. This was followed by some motivational songs both in Hindi and English, and a typical rhythmic dance of South Africa, delightfully presented by the children of pre-primary. The little ones carried their costumes with aplomb and did not miss a step! The audience could not stop marvelling at the feat!

In conclusion the teachers choir sang the School song.
