Pre school visits a Traffic Park
On Friday, 10th March17, an excursion to the Traffic Training Park at Baba Kharak Singh Marg, was organised for the Pre-School students. The excursion aimed to introduce the children to basic road safety rules. We, at The Indian School, believe that early familiarity helps better . reinforce important values.
The park was a recreated to resemble a spread of public roads with traffic signals and sign boards for create awareness. It was easy to explain road safety to the students as they could clearly observe firsthand. An instructor at the Park explained the importance of the Zebra Crossing, a Pedestrian Subway and the relevance of the Foot-Over Bridges. She emphasised how one should always walk only on the footpath.

The training programme was made more interesting by live demonstrations. A student was made to wear a helmet and knee pads to explain their importance on public roads for scooterists and motor cyclists. The children were directed to practice walking along a dotted track, holding a card with the various road signs to keep reminding them of what they signified.
While students were generally familiar about traffic rules and traffic safety from their lessons in the classroom, their visit to the traffic park greatly reinforced what they had read with its live displays.
