Prime Ministers Address To Students

With the exam season round the corner, working for exams can create feelings of stress and relentless pressure among students.

In this regard, the prime minister's 'Pareeksha Pe Charcha', ahead of the Class 10 and 12 board examinations was held at the Talkatora Stadium in Delhi on 16 February 2018. The students of The Indian School made the best use of this opportunity by watching a live telecast of the prime ministers address to students in our School auditorium.

Addressing students from across the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he would be pupil on the occasion and they, the young listeners, the examiners! During the interactive session, he stressed on the importance of self-confidence and concentration in dealing with exam stress.

Answering a question Prime Minister Modi said that we all prepare honestly, but if we don't have confidence, we tend to forget things at the last minute. Self-confidence comes by challenging ourselves and working hard. He said we should always think of bettering ourselves. He told students that self-confidence is very important and that it is not a pill or herb. There is no tablet that can be consumed for instant confidence. We have to build it day by day.

He asked the students not to compete with others, but with themselves. He told them never to doubt their parents intentions and try instead to understand them. He answered questions about high expectations of parents and urged students not to study only when their parents are around, but otherwise too.

As advice to parents, he said that parents should abstain from placing undue pressure on their wards by comparing them with their peers. Every child has different abilities and need to be recognised. He said parents shouldnt make the accomplishments of their children their social status as they sometimes get tempted to do!

Speaking about the importance of a healthy balance between IQ (intelligence quotient) and EQ (emotional quotient) he said that emotional bonding is essential for ones overall development.

Talking about concentration he said that people think concentration is a major thing that has to be learnt, but that is not true. He added that everyone throughout the day does something which requires complete focus.

In another suggestion, the prime minister asked students to learn to defocus before they can focus. He told students to let themselves loose and do what they want to do as it will help them focus better.

The Prime Ministers interactive session indeed came as a great stress buster for student battling exam fear and stress. The suggestions given by him will go a long way to help students emerge as Exam Warriors and not Exam Worriers.

A Happy Mind is the Secret of a Good Mark Sheet- Rightly said Prime Minister!
