Quizbate 2019 inter school debate

On 22 August 2019 three students of The Indian School participated in Quizbate, an inter- school English Debate organised by Modern School, Vasant Vihar. Of the six schools that participated, some of them were the Sunbeam School, Mayo College Girls School and Springdales School, Pusa Road . Shrey Gogia of XII-A spoke in the Extempore round, Jahnnobi Roy of XII-D was speaker for the Turncoat round whereas Mehar Saxena from XII-B took part in the Bridge round. The competition was moderated by Mr Pranab Mukherjee, Mr Abhishek Pal and Mr Sehaj Umang Singh Bhatia.

The preliminary round was a combination of extempore and turncoat debate involving all the participating schools. For the Extempore round students were asked to choose topics from a draw of lots and the preparation time was 10 minutes. Jahnnobi spoke on the topic "This house believes that to lift a paintbrush is to be a pauper" whereas Shrey expressed his views on how he perceived the word Republic. Both the speakers stood on the podium and each presented their views on their respective topics. The Bridge motion was written and presented by Mehar who penned down her views on This House will evolve a financial mechanism to pay housewives.

Out team cleared the preliminary round and competed

Shrey Gogia was declared Best Speaker of the Semi Finals Round.

It seved as a wonderful learning experience for all the participants.
