Rangoli competition
On 18 August, three students of our School, Falak Rahi and Pearl Gupta of class XII-E and Shiksha of class IX-C, participated in a Rangoli competition held at Don Bosco School. The 'Bosco Fiesta' not only comprised of a Rangoli competition, but also included Mime and Western Dance. Over fifteen schools from the national capital participated in the event.
At commencement, the chief guest and the judges were presented with planters and the school magazine. The lighting of the lamp was followed by Head Boy Arun Kumar, who delivered the welcome speech. The Principal, enlightened the august gathering about the Bosco Fiesta which showcased and nurtured young talents.
The Rangoli competition was held in the Secondary Hall. An area of size 1.8m 1.3m was allotted to each team. Participants were expected to use flowers, rangoli colours and sawdust to create their designs. The topic was Sustainable Development Goals and the time given was two hours. Our students stained sawdust in a variety of colours for their rangoli. They denoted the theme in an allegorical way where elements like the peacock, lotus and a figure holding the earth symbolised the SDGs like 'Life on Land', 'Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions' and Gender Equality. The amalgamation of these elements showcased the concept of sustainable development.
It was a wonderful and wholesome experience for the students as they learnt the ways to make their rangoli eco-friendly and sustainable. In addition, they also understood the various techniques that one should keep in mind while preparing a spectacular Rangoli.
