Apart from Hindi and Sanskrit, teachers of other regional languages like Bangla, Marathi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Punjabi, present on the occasion shared presentations on a PPT. They focused on the importance and necessity of regional languages at the primary level. To increase interest in a language they suggested that teachers should select a particular author or a poet to be studied each month. The children could then do some research on that writer and poet. This would by default, encourage the students to read different works, possibly dramatise stories, recite poems, etc specific to the writer selected. The teacher should also devise activities that enable children to get exposed to the writer or poet. A cultural programme and dinner concluded the programme. It was an interesting experience for us and gave us insight into the importance of regional languages and innovative ways to teach them. Ms. Archana Sharma.
