Science Quiz for classes IV and V

In the pursuit of encouraging positive competition and bringing out the best in all our students our School organises competitions and quizzes at various levels. By motivating our students to participate in such events, we ensure that our children learn in an all-rounded way and not just through books and classroom teaching. On Friday 9 October 2015, classes IV and V participated in one such interesting and fun-filled informative quiz The teams comprised of one participant per house from each section of classes IV and V. In all forty students participated in the quiz. The contestants were tested on their reasoning skills and their knowledge of the various topics from their curriculum. The format of the quiz entailed four rounds. In the first round contestants had to choose the correct option. The second round was a regular question-answer round.

In the third round they had to identify the names of famous personalities with the help of hints offered to them. In the fourth round, they had to state whether the statements given were true or false. Each team got 30 seconds in which to answer the question, failing which the question was passed over to the next team for bonus points. In case none of the teams was able to answer correctly, the question was thrown to the audience. The audience was also given an opportunity to participate in the round held especially for them. It was heart-warming to see the children brimming with enthusiasm and exuberance as they vied with the others to answer questions that required explanation and reasoning. The cheers from the audience added to the electric atmosphere. The quiz ended with a tie between Surya and Indra Houses. A tie-breaker question was then asked which named Indra house winner, closely followed by Surya House, in the second position. Varun House and Chandra House stood third and fourth respectively.
