Shramdaan contribution for The Earth Saviours' Foundation

This was our second visit to this NGO, the last one being on 18th August 2015. This Foundation is an internationally recognised NGO founded in 2008 by Mr. Ravi Kalra. He is a social activist and environmentalist and the Foundation is dedicated to serve the less privileged and preserve the environment.

With the support of the proceeds collected from Shram Daan, we decided to contribute Rs. 15,000 towards a large cooler keeping the growing heat in mind. This was their immediate necessity for their newly built shelters since relocating here from Vasant Kunj.

The Citizenship Council consisting of Saksham Goyal, Anchal Juneja, Mayank, Harithma, Suryansh and Ms. Sangeeta Aswani reached the ashram and were overwhelmed to see the improvement in the infrastructure. The place now houses nearly 500 senior citizens, cared for wit much compassion. There were now 5 makeshift shelters with beds divided into one for men, one for women, one for those bedridden, an office and a reception area. There were some residents who could participate in daily chores like cleaning, cutting vegetables, cooking and knitting. They were very happy to see the students, many of them even welcoming them in English. The place now had a rain harvesting plant, a solar energy plant and some cows in a shed.

We invited Mr. Kalra to visit our School and talk to our children on service to society . We also handed over the cheque to him. He presented all of us with a beautiful picture each of Goddess Saraswati.

We left with mixed feelings. it was heartwarming to see the selfless dedication of the care givers and their continuous effort to provide comfort to the inmates.
