Special assembly by class 8
Opportunities to find deeper powers within ourselves come when life seems most challenging.
-Joseph Campbell
With the pandemic in the background, the endeavour is to find normalcy again and resume the tradition of morning class assemblies after almost three years. On 15 February 2023, class VIII was the first to organise a special assembly on the theme, Challenges of Life.
When the students got the opportunity to take the lead, they left no stone unturned. They volunteered to plan and organise the assembly and accomplished the tasks assigned to them with fervour and enthusiasm.
Shaurya Fulfagar and Sakshi Rao (VIIIA) were the comperes for the day. They welcomed the audience with a quote on Positivity and initiated the programme with an invocation to Lord Shiva in the form of an Odissi dance recital by Vritti Nagpal (VIII A). It was a melodious rendition of the 'Shiv Stuti', followed by the news and thought for the day. Dhriti Kathuria and Tanishqa Bhattacharya (VIIIA) presented international news; Vansh Sharma (VIIIA) and Shraddha Saraswat (VIIIE) read the national news. Vidhisha Padhi (VIIIE) shared sports news. The weather report was presented by Aadya Arora (VIIIA), whilst the thought for the day was read by Akshaye Bhave (VIIIA).

A short address commemorated the 550th birth anniversary of Nicolaus Copernicus, the renowned physicist and mathematician. A short film was shown to the assembly to help understand the difficulties he faced in releasing his book on "Heliocentrism" because its findings contradicted the Church. His never-say-die mentality gave him the fortitude and hope that one day his discoveries would be accepted and truth would triumph. The message of grit and determination was thus disseminated among the children.
Principal, Ms Tania Joshi, was invited to address the students. She encouraged the students to display their talents whenever they are given an opportunity and urged them to read up on current affairs to enrich their vocabulary and knowledge. She appreciated the efforts of the students in hosting the assembly. The assembly concluded with a song on saving water.
