Special Assembly by class V : Remembering Gurudev.
Rabindra Jayanti is the day which marks the birth anniversary of the great scholar and Nobel laureate, Gurudev, Rabindranath Tagore. Gurudev was born in Calcutta in an affluent Brahmin family. He was the youngest sibling of the family. An eminent poet, visual artist, playwright, novelist, and composer, Tagore gave a new dimension to Indian literature and music in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He became Asia's first Nobel laureate in 1913.
To honour the memory of this pioneer, classes 4 and 5 celebrated Rabindra Jayanti on 8th May, 2015. Students of class VE with the guidance of their teacher, Ms. Purnima Dwivedi spoke on the life of Gurudev with information about his contributions to the fields of art and literature. Bhuvi, a student of the class, presented a soulful rendition of Gurudev's classic,"Ekla chalo re".

Throwing light on the role of Tagore in the freedom struggle, the significance of the call
" Ekla chalo", Shanti Niketan, the Geetanjali and the very famous Jorasanko Thakurbari , Ms. Sushila Negi spoke simply accompanied by a power point presentation on Rabindranath Tagores life. The children listened in great attention.
This was not all. A display of the work of students done in the class room, on the various aspects of Tagores life reinforced the memorable event.
Collated with this was an awareness of Good Habits amongst children by Ms. Vandana Tewari. Undoubtedly, leaders come off strong character moulded early. Care of oneself and a consciousness of one's surroundings are the earliest values to be learnt, she said. Examples in a power point presentation conveyed the significance of what was being explained.
