Sports' Day, 2012
Sports' Day, 2012 was conducted with pomp and pageant on 30 November at the Thyagaraj Stadium. It was the culmination of a month's perseverance of the students and their teachers.
The chief guest on the occasion was Ms. Damyanti Tambay, Arjuna Awardee who represented our country in badminton internationally.
The proceeding started with an auspicious rendering of the Ganesh Vandana by the school choir. Immediately thereafter the chief guest took the salute of the 4 houses who marched in magnificence. The multitudes of children in each house wore the house tee-shirt and the aerial sight of large masses of the 4 primary colours made for a n extravaganza. The School band followed the houses, matching their steps whilst beating on their drums to a Brazilian rhythm.
Leading the impressive parade were Head Boy, Anmol Arora and Head Girl, Amrita Singh followed by The Sports' Captains, Sandeep Sancheti and Shubra Sharma holding aloft the sports flag. Each student then took an oath in unison, a promise to participate in loyal competition for the honour of the School and the glory of sport.

The chief guest addressed the gathering and deeply lauded the efforts of our School for promoting sport and for offering opportunity to students to play at an an international facility such as the Thyagaraj Stadium. She then released ceremonial balloons to mark the Sports' Day open.
An exceptionally executed display of marshal arts by class 2 students was closely followed by an energetic judo display by students of upto class 7. Next a delicately dealt yoga drill held the audience in awe. The sheer genius of the live formations in the pyramid drill had each one in the audience gasping!
The entire stadium was decorated with cut- outs of Indian and International athletes who have achieved exceptional accolade. The cut- outs were handcrafted at School by teachers and offered a special fillip to the drive amongst the participants to make a perfect pitch.
Races interspersed between other events had Sports captain Sandeep Sancheti winning the title of the fastest boy of the school in senior boys category 100m. Abhaypreet Singh took the title in the 200m.
Soon the much awaited Carnival was underway. A riot of colour with exotic costumes and masks took the breaths away!
King Momo and Queen Momo from Latin America made a grand entry acknowledging the cheering crowd, as a pageant of gaily attired dancers filled the passage at the feet of the stands. Class 1 boys as colourful clowns and their girl partners as sunflowers were closely followed by manifold Mickeys and Minis of Disney fame from class 3. Tailing them were the football and cheerleaders from class 4, the Charlie Chaplin boys and Angel girls of class 5, cowboys and Flamenco girls of classes 6-8, B-boying of classes 9, 10 and the Samba girls. Needless to say the myriad made magic.
The pulsating beats and rhythm of Rio beckoned Brazil in our midst even as Chandra House was announced Best in March Past and Varun House were the champion athletes. The Chairman's foundation, Prafull Foundation offered awards to all achievers in athletics.
